Double My Case Grad Year

Having trouble reading this entry? View it here.

Dear Case Alumni,

When you give $20.06 to Case Western Reserve University right now, it will be matched and doubled to $40.12!

I wrote you recently about the generous CWRU donor who’s challenging you, the Class of 2006 and all alumni to set a new benchmark for undergraduate participation in our 2011 Annual Giving Campaign.

His proposition? Give your graduation year right now, and he’ll double it! When you give $20.06, he’ll match it so CWRU gets $40.12.

I’m following up with this email thinking you’ll want to give the easy way, online at this secure site.

Your gift will help us build the new Tinkham Veale University Center adjacent to the Kelvin Smith Library, plus fund research and academic excellence that win national acclaim, earning more respect for you and the degree you earned in 2006.

Follow this link to make your gift today, while your generosity can have double the impact.

Thanks in advance!

James Treleaven, CIT ’69, GRS ’90
President, CWRU Alumni Association

P.S. At CWRU, every dollar of Annual Fund giving is expended in the year given, so you’ll see immediate impact on scholarships, facilities, libraries – opportunities for all the students who walk the same halls you did!

Case Western Reserve University AlumNews

"CWRU University Alumni Relations"
Special Edition December 2010

Based on alumni feedback and suggestions, we are pleased to announce that the new and improved AlumNews will launch in January 2011. When this new version of AlumNews hits your inbox, we will continue to welcome your feedback! After all, AlumNews is for you.

In the meantime, Daniel T. Clancy (LAW '62), executive director of University Alumni Relations, retires at the end of this month. In lieu of the December issue of AlumNews, Clancy has chosen to say a few words of farewell to fellow alumni of the university that has been his second home for more than 45 years.

Dear Alumni,
I want to express my deep gratitude for the time I've spent at Case Western Reserve University. My many years here have been, in a word, wonderful. Thank you for making the experience so rewarding. Fifteen years ago, I made the shift from working in administration at the Law School to working in University Alumni Relations. Over the years, we have sought more ways of connecting with alumni. We produced the first university all-alumni directory, established more alumni chapters around the country and with the advent of internet, email and social media, we have taken advantage of being in touch with alumni all over the world
instantaneously.

But for me, 2007 marks the most memorable highlight: The award-winning restoration of the historic brick mansion on Juniper Road that is now your Alumni House. Creating a home-away from-home for alumni was something we talked about and then worked toward for most of my time in Alumni Relations.

If you haven't been to Alumni House, you will have to stop by sometime. It is so comfortable and accommodating. And bustling! We probably have several different types of functions occurring in the house every week, as well as alumni just dropping in to say hello and take advantage of our
free parking while they're on campus.

In the over 45 years I've been at the university, the changes that I've seen during that time are nothing short of extraordinary. Outstanding ground breaking research and world-class education programs have earned Case Western Reserve University a 1st tier ranking several years running in US News & World Report. What CWRU has accomplished is in large measure from your continued support and contributions to the Annual Fund. And for this, we are very grateful and I encourage you to join me in staying involved.

In closing, I just want to welcome my successor, Christopher Vlahos, and wish him all the best. Chris comes to us from the University of Arizona, where he oversaw key initiatives as the president and executive director of the Alumni Association. He helped develop the Alumni Student Recruitment Program, which engages alumni in reaching out to prospective students, and partnered with the university's career services center to create an online career advancement resource.

Again, thank you. I wish you a wonderful holiday season and all the best in 2011. It has truly been a pleasure serving the alumni community of Case Western Reserve University.

Sincerely,
Case Western Reserve University
